Sister Visitor Center will hold “A Step back in Time with The Monarchs,” an evening of live music and dancing, on Nov. 16 at Bellarmine University’s Frazier Hall, 2001 Newburg Road.

An announcement for the event notes that the much-loved local band formed in 1961 and that Sister Visitor has been “rockin’ n rollin’ ” since 1969.

“Were trying to make this a fun — f-u-n — raiser,” said Sister Michele Intravia, the center’s director. “While we do expect to raise money for continued operations, we do want people to have fun with old friends and meet new people.

“We hope those who follow the Monarchs will come to know the needs of the people of the West End of Louisville through this event,” she added.

The center, located in West Louisville, is a part of Catholic Charities. It offers emergency assistance to families in the Portland, Shawnee and Russell neighborhoods by providing the most basic of needs: food, clothes, assistance with rent, utilities, medicine and furniture. The center serves about 350 households each month.

The benefit event will begin with cocktails at a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dancing will begin at 7 p.m. Fruit, vegetables and cheese trays will be available throughout the evening.

A silent auction also will be held during the event, said Sister Intravia.

“A number of people have been so supportive of this event and made generous donations to the silent auction,” she said. “We will have a gulf condo for six in Florida for a week-long vacation; golf packages; items from Woodford Reserve, Makers Mark and Derby memorabilia.

Tickets for the benefit are $30 per person or $50 for a couple. Admission includes one free beer or wine ticket. Reserved tables for 10 are available for $300. A portion of the ticket cost will be acknowledged as a donation.

To purchase tickets, visit ww.cclou.org/step or send a list of attendees and a check payable to Sister Visitor Center, 2235 W. Market Street, Louisville, Ky., 40212.
