Charlie Shunnarah, right, executive chef at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Open Hand Kitchen, taught campers at the society’s Family Success Center Humanities and Culinary Arts Camp about kitchen safety while also showing them how to make cheeseburgers June 27.

Dominican Brother Constantius, center, looked on. He and another Dominican from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington D.C. are volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul this summer and living at St. Louis Bertrand Church.

Students from St. Xavier and Trinity high schools also are volunteering at the camp.
