Bellarmine celebrates 73rd commencement

Bellarmine University conferred 836 degrees during its 73rd commencement ceremonies on May 9.

The university awarded 613 undergraduate degrees at the afternoon ceremony held at Freedom Hall. Undergraduates were addressed by Dr. Aaron Thompson, president of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

Among the undergraduates was Abby Kaufman, who earned a nursing degree. For the ceremony, she created a design of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on her graduation cap using the lids of medicine vials. She will work as an emergency room nurse in Indianapolis following graduation.

The graduate ceremony, held earlier in the morning, was addressed by Rachel Greenberg, First Lady of Louisville and a Bellarmine graduate. At the graduate ceremony, Bellarmine conferred 223 degrees.
