In observance of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States, the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 S. Fifth St., will hold a trinity of prayer services in thanksgiving and intercession for the country.

  • The first will be the praying of The Patriotic Rosary following the noon Mass on May 17, the United States National Day of Prayer.
  • A Vigil Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. on June 11, when the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
  • An Independence Day Mass is planned for July 4 at 9:30 a.m., preceding a civic celebration scheduled at the nearby Metro Hall at 11 a.m.

All are welcome to attend.
