Assumption to show GirlRising Oct. 20

Assumption High School will present GirlRising, a film that tells the stories of nine girls from nine countries and their quest to go to school.

Malala Yousafzai, a young Pakistani girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban in 2012, is one of the girls featured in the film. A news release from Assumption said GirlRising “showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.”

The film will be shown at Assumption High School in The Humana Foundation Performing and Fine Arts Center Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Call 458-9551 for more information.
