Religious will hold open houses Feb. 15

In celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life, religious communities serving in the Archdiocese of Louisville will hold open houses on Feb. 15. The public is invited to attend the open houses, which will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

  • The Passionist Community, Sacred Heart Monastery, 1924 Newburg Road.
  • The Sisters of Mercy, St. Catherine Convent, 2169 Tyler Lane.
  • The Abbey of Gethsemani, 3642 Monks Road, Trappist, Ky. There will be a video and photo display in the welcome center and short tours of the main monastery building will be offered at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will be a brief mid-afternoon prayer service in the church at 2:15 p.m.
  • The Xaverian Brothers, Ryken House (on the campus of St. Xavier High School), 1607 Poplar Level Road. Enter at the Poplar Level Road traffic light and follow the one-way road into property. Park in the lot on the left.
  • Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Ind., will have open houses at two Louisville locations where sisters reside — 904 Windhurst Court and 4009 Dixie Highway.
  • The Sisters of Loretto, in the Loretto Heritage Center, Nerinx, Ky. Guests may tour the community’s museum, which documents the beginnings of religious life in Kentucky in the early 1800s.  Visitors also are welcome to tour the Loretto Heritage Center throughout the Year of Consecrated Life Tuesdays through Sundays from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) will hold open houses in the Hospitality Room of the SCN Apartments in Louisville, 2000 Newburg Road, and at the SCN campus in Nazareth, Ky.
  • The Conventual Franciscans, Mount St. Francis, 101 St. Anthony Drive, Mount St. Francis, Ind. The event will include hot hors d’oeuvres.
  • The Dominican Sisters of Peace, St. Catharine Motherhouse, 2645 Bardstown Road, St. Catharine, Ky. The open house will conclude at 4:30 p.m. with “sung vespers.”
  • The Little Sisters of the Poor, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive, will have an open house from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors also are invited to join in eucharistic adoration followed by vespers and Benediction. Refreshments will be available.
  • The Ursuline Sisters of Louisville Motherhouse, 3115 Lexington Road.
