Archbishop announces pastor assignment

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz has made the following appointment, effective Oct. 1:

The Very Rev. J. Mark Spalding, will be pastor of Holy Name Church while continuing as pastor of Holy Trinity Church.

Father Spalding, a native of Fredericktown, Ky., has served as the vicar general of the archdiocese since 2011, and previously served as judicial vicar.

Since his ordination on Aug. 3, 1991, he has been assigned to the following parishes: The Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Ky.; St. Augustine Church, Lebanon, Ky.; St. Margaret Mary Church; Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Ky.; and Holy Trinity.

He has served also as chaplain of Bethlehem High School in Bardstown and Sacred Heart Academy.
