St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road, held a groundbreaking ceremony following its 10 a.m. Mass on May 17. Members of the church choir sang their praises as Father William D. Hammer, pastor, blessed the site of a two-story, 20,705-square-foot building project.

The site will host a parish hall with a hospitality space, as well as multiple conference rooms and meeting spaces. A corridor will connect the existing church to the new space, as well as a sculpture garden and landscaped courtyard.

“It becomes a source of opportunity to outreach,” said Father Hammer in a press release.
