St. X students featured in documentary

A documentary called “A Potter’s Field,” featuring several St. Xavier High School students will premiere at the 5th annual Flyover Film Festival June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street.

The documentary follows members of the St. Joseph of Arimathea Society at St. X. Tornado relief

Assumption High School students, faculty and staff collected $2,000 for tornado victims who attend Mount St. Mary High School in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Eight families of Mount St. Mary High School lost their homes in a May 20 tornado. In addition to being a “sister school” with Assumption, Mount St. Mary is also involved in the Mercy Ambassador Exchange Program and their mascot is also the Rocket.

Students, faculty and staff at Assumption donated the money in exchange for a day to dress out of uniform. In addition to the donation, students signed a banner offering prayers and support to the Oklahoma school.

Both Assumption and Mount St. Mary high schools were founded by the Sisters of Mercy.

Aviation award

Three St. Xavier High School students were selected as recipients of the school’s Joseph Harry Bundschu Memorial Aviation Award. Larry Bundschu, a 1966 alumnus, and his late father, both pilots, established the endowment to allow others to share in the joy of flying, a news release from the school said.
