Women and men in religious life will be honored June 17

Women and men religious, including the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, above, participated in a special liturgy Feb. 2, 2025, celebrated by Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre. The Feb. 2 Mass marked the World Day for Consecrated Life. This year, a Mass for those in consecrated life will be celebrated June 17 and will be followed by a luncheon for jubilarians. Consecrated men and women who have served the Catholic Church in myriad ways — as teachers, pastoral ministers, in healthcare, social services, prayer and more — will be recognized this summer for their service.

“The Catholic Church celebrates consecrated religious life — sisters, brothers and priests — because they offer a radical witness to God’s love through vows of poverty, chastity and obedience,” noted Father Martin A. Linebach, vicar for vocations. “They serve as a ‘prophetic witness,’ pointing toward heaven, encouraging all faithful to deepen their baptismal commitment and follow Christ more closely.”

The Consecrated Religious Jubilee Celebration will begin with Mass at 11 a.m. in the Ursuline Sisters’ Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, 3115 Lexington Road. All religious, family members and friends are encouraged to attend the Mass. Jubilarians and their guests are invited to a special luncheon afterward on the Sacred Heart Schools campus.

Religious communities are asked to contact the Vocation Office with the names of jubilarians and their number of years in religious life so they may be recognized. Contact Vanessa Haulk at vhaulk@archlou.org or 502-471-1271.
