Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Pauletta McCarty dies at 96

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Pauletta McCarty died April 7 at Mount St. Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was 96 and in her 77th  year of religious life.

Sister McCarty served as an educator for 36 years in Kentucky, Missouri and Nebraska. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Catherine School in New Haven, Ky., from 1943 to 1944 and St. Bartholomew School from 1952 to 1958.

She also served in parish ministry in the Diocese of Owensboro. She was assistant local superior, director of transportation and sacristan at Mount St. Joseph.

She is survived by a sister, Rose Mary Pease of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Celestine Joseph McCarty of Owensboro and Francis Xavier McCarty of Calhoun, Ky.; nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. April 10 at Mount St. Joseph, where visitation will begin April 9 at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in the motherhouse cemetery.
