Tim O’Brien to speak at Festival of Contemporary Writing

Award-winning author Tim O’Brien will be the featured guest at Spalding University’s Festival of Contemporary Writing set for May 18 to 25. O’Brien is author of the short story collection “The Things They Carried” set in the Vietnam War and a variety of other works of fiction.

He will give a free public presentation at 6:30 p.m. May 23 at the Brown Hotel, 335 W. Broadway. A book signing will follow his presentation.

The festival is part of Spalding’s brief residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing program. O’Brien is the program’s 2013 Diana M. Raab Distinguished Writer in Residence.
