‘Stuff the School Bus’ event set for Aug. 2

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry (OMM) will hold its second annual “Stuff the School Bus” event Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 W. Broadway.

The event is planned as a precurser to OMM’s ninth annual “Community Back to School Fair” which will be held Aug. 3.

The goal of “Stuff the School Bus” is to fill one of the familiar yellow vehicles with donated school supplies, which can be dropped off at the Catholic Enrichment Center (CEC) prior to the event.

The donated supplies will be sorted based upon grade level and then distributed to school children during the “Back to School Fair” which will begin at 10 a.m., also at the Catholic Enrichment Center.

The two back-to-school events are part of OMM’s and the CEC’s Family Life Skills, Community Outreach and Academic Enrichment programs, which minister to families regardless of race, religion or geographical location.

According to a press release from OMM, the goal of  the two events is to help young people have a successful start to their school year by providing pencils, ink pens, paper, notebooks, folders, calculators, markers, crayons, scissors, binders, glue, glue sticks, rulers, back packs and other school supplies. For information, call OMM at 471-2146.
