Sr. McGaughran dies in Nazareth, Ky., at 102

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Ruth Marie McGaughran, 102, a native of Memphis, Tenn., died at Carrico Hall in Nazareth, Ky., Feb. 9. She had been an SCN for 82 years.

Sister McGaughran served in elementary, secondary and collegiate education for 40 years in Kentucky, Virginia, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Ohio. In Louisville she taught at Presentation Academy from 1953 to 1965. She also served as a pastoral visitor in St. Raphael parish in 1972 and 1973.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 12 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth. Burial was in Nazareth Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial gifts to SCN Missions, P.O. Box 9, Nazareth, Ky. 40048.
