Spalding University’s spring Festival of Contemporary Writing planned

The spring Festival of Contemporary Writing sponsored by Spalding University will be held May 24 to 31 at Spalding and other locations. It will feature readings by faculty, guest writers and alumni of the university’s low-residency master of fine arts in writing program.

Kentucky Poet Laureate Frank X. Walker will give a presentation and book signing on May 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Brown Hotel, 335 W. Broadway.

May 24 will feature a “Celebration of Recently Published Books by Faculty” in the Spalding ELC Lectorium, 901 S. Fourth St.

On May 25, the festival will showcase Kentucky artists in the “Kentucky Arts Festival: Literature, Music, Art by Al Smith Fellowship Winners.” These will occur at various locations.

Faculty readings will be offered on May 26 and 28. May 30 and 31 will feature alumni readings.
