Society of the Divine Savior Father Jude Weisenbeck dies

Society of the Divine Savior Father Jude Weisenbeck, 84, died May 26 in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Father Weisenbeck, a native of Durand, Wisc., made his profession of vows Sept. 8, 1954, and was ordained a priest June 4, 1960.

He served as a teacher, spiritual director, pastor and in various administrative positions in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee and Minnesota.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, he served in ecumenical ministry from 1992 to 2000.

He also served as the general treasurer for the Society of the Divine Savior in Rome from 1983 to 1986. He retired in 2003.

Father Weisenbeck is survived by four sisters: Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Joan Weisenbeck and Marlene Weisenbeck of La Crosse, Wisc.; Lu Ann Kaatz of Eau Claire, Wisc.; and Rita Hetrick of Nelson, Wisc.; two brothers: Arnold Weisenbeck of Durand, Wisc.; and Lawrence Weisenbeck of New Richmond, Wisc; as well as members of his religious community.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated June 2 at the Chapel of Alexian Village in Milwaukee. Burial will be at a later date in Durand.
