Sister of Charity of Nazareth Mary Jo Pfefferman dies at 96

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Mary Jo Pfefferman, a native of Alexandria, Ky., died at Nazareth Home on July 28. She was 96 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for nearly 60 years.

Sister Pfefferman served in health care, child care and community service in Kentucky and Tennessee during her active ministry. In the Archdiocese of  Louisville, she served at St. Thomas-St. Vincent Home in child care and at Nazareth Home as a nurse assistant and driver.

She served in the apostolate of prayer during her residency at Nazareth Home from April 2011 until her death.

She is survived by a sister, Florence Holmes of Newport, Ky., several nieces and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., with burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on July 30, and after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church.  There will be a prayer service in St. Vincent Church at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
