Sister of Charity of Nazareth Caroline Field dies at Nazareth Home at age 83

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Caroline Field, formerly Sister Mary Joachim Field, died at Nazareth Home on June 8. She was 83 and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) for 64 years.

Sister Field, a native of Owensboro, Ky., served in elementary, secondary, religious and adult education in Kentucky, Tennessee,Maryland and Mississippi for 36 years. She also served as a pastoral associate, as director of the Laubach Method (literacy program) for the SCN Congregation, as director of SCNews and in family ministry.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at St. Mary Church, in SCN Communications and with the SCN Literacy Council.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Field of Willoughby, Ohio; three brothers, William Field of Louisville; Clark Field of Evansville, Ind.; and Philip Field of Newburgh, Ind.; and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on June 17 in St. Vincent Church on the SCN campus in Nazareth, Ky., with burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be on June 16 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home and after 4 p.m. at St. Vincent. A prayer service in the church will be at 6:30 p.m.
