Dominican Sister of Peace Gertrude Veronica Zablotny dies at 88

Dominican Sister of Peace Gertrude Veronica Zablotny died June 8 at Sansbury Care Center on the campus of the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Springfield, Ky. She was 88 and had been a religious for 64 years.

Sister Zablotny, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., served as a teacher in Kentucky, Massachusetts, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Nebraska, West Virginia and Tennessee.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at St. Dominic School in Springfield, Ky. In later years, she served in administrative positions and as an activities coordinator.

Sister Zablotny is survived by her sister, Ursula Young, and her brother, John Zablotny.

Visitation will be at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel June 11 at 3 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. June 12 with burial in the St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
