Sister of Charity of Nazareth Catherine Arnold dies at age 84

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Catherine Arnold, 84, died June 6 at Nazareth Home. She was the former Sister Catherine de Paul Arnold and had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 66 years.

Sister Arnold, a native of Memphis, Tenn., served for 18 years in elementary, religious and collegiate education. She served for four years in SCN leadership and was involved in parish ministry in Texas and Kentucky for four years. She also served in health care and chaplaincy in Kentucky and Tennessee for 27 years.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Arnold taught at St. Thomas More and St. Barnabas schools. She served in the SCN Provincial Leadership and as director of chaplaincy services at Nazareth Home.

Survivors include a brother, Gene C. Arnold of Lebanon, N.J.; two sisters, Rita Pasztor of Sanford, N.C., and Edith Hatfield of Hilton Head, S.C.; and her religious community.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated on June 12, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent Church on the Sisters’ Nazareth, Ky., campus, followed by burial of cremated remains in Nazareth Cemetery.
