Sister Betty Fracchia, 78, dies

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Betty Fracchia, formerly Sister Joseph Paul, 78, died Nov. 17 in Memphis, Tenn. She was a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 57 years.

Sister Fracchia, a native of Memphis, first served in education. She taught in Massachusetts, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Beginning in 1997, she served at St. Peter Home for Children in Memphis in a variety of positions, including as educational coordinator, in social services and as director.

Sister Fracchia is survived by her extended family and her religious community.

The visitation will be Nov. 23 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Canale Funeral Home in Memphis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Church in Memphis. Burial will be in Nazareth Cemetery.
