‘Salute’ luncheon raises $260,000

The eighth annual Salute to THE GAME Luncheon, sponsored by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF), raised $260,000 breaking last year’s record of $225,000. The luncheon was held Sept. 30 at the Galt House Hotel.

The luncheon — which “celebrates the rivalry and thrill” of the annual St. Xavier High School and Trinity High School football game — drew 1,100 guests according to a statement from the CEF.

All the net proceeds from the event will benefit the CEF in its work to make Catholic education accessible to more families in the Archdiocese of Louisville. “In only its eighth year, this hallmark event continues to set new highs in fundraising, fan excitement and community participation” said Richard Lechleiter, president of the CEF, in a press release.

“We’re deeply indebted to all of our friends in the St. Xavier and Trinity communities for allowing the foundation to benefit from this storied rivalry. We look forward to providing record levels of financial support to students, families, schools and parish communities across the archdiocese in the year ahead,” said Lechleiter in the statement.
