Religious communities offer ‘come and see’ events for men and women

Three religious congregations that serve in the Archdiocese of Louisville are offering discernment opportunities for men and women considering religious life.

  • The Dominican Sisters of Peace will hold a “come and see” retreat Sept. 7 to 9 at the motherhouse in St. Catharine, Ky. Single Catholic women ages 18 to 45 are invited to attend.

  • The Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph will host a “come and see” weekend Oct. 12 to 14 for Catholic women ages 18 to 40 interested in discerning a call to be an Ursuline Sister. There is no cost to attend the weekend , which will be at the motherhouse in Maple Mount, Ky.

  • Single Catholic men ages 18 to 35 who are healthy “of mind and body” are invited to a “come and see” vocation weekend retreat Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 at the Abbey of Gethsemani, 3642 Monks Road, Trappist, Ky.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend the Liturgy of the Hours in choir with the monks and tour their workplaces. There will also be sessions for listening to the witness of other monks.
