Office of Multicultural Ministries to offer next Thea Bowman class

The Office of Multicultural Ministries (OMM) will offer a Thea Bowman Certificate Class Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Maloney Center, 1200 S. Shelby St.

The course topic is “Black Theology and Womanist Theology” and will be presented by Dr. Diana Hayes. Hayes is a professor of systematic theology in the Department of Theology at Georgetown University.

The cost of the session is $25 per person which includes materials and a working lunch. The registration fee will be $30 cash only on the day of the course.

The Thea Bowman Program offers a certificate in African American Ministry Studies and “forms students who are laity, religious and clergy in meaningful and effective ministry within the black community and fosters new leadership among black people,” a news release from the office said.
