Sister Rosalita Wuersch, former teacher, dies at 97

Ursuline Sister of Louisville M. Rosalita Wuersch, 97, died Feb. 6 at Mercy Sacred Heart Village. She had been a religious since 1932.

Sister Wuersch was a Louisville native, received a bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College and a master’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

She spent the majority of her ministry teaching at schools in Louisville, including at the old St. Elizabeth, St. Vincent dePaul, St. Helen,  Saint Boniface and Pope John XXIII  schools; at Angela Merici High School and at Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Lourdes schools. She also taught at St. Mary School in Jackson, Miss.

Sister Wuersch is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins; her friend Sharon Holliday of Louisville and the Ursuline community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. in the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel, with interment in St. Michael Cemetery.
