‘In the Beginning’ musical revue to be presented at Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Church will present an encore production of “In the Beginning,” a musical revue of Broadway songs related to Bible stories, on March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is free and family-friendly.

The production features 25 singers from age 8 to 28 who come from more than 10 parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville. It was performed for the first time in August.

The revue was “so well received, we were asked by several people, ‘When are you going to do this again?’ ” said Emily Fields, the show’s creator and director. “I was so excited to bring it back and thankfully, so was the cast.

“This is essentially a Lenten season show and so I thought, what more perfect time to bring it back than right before Lent?” Fields said in an email.

The production includes music from “Children of Eden,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Godspell” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Fields is a cantor at Holy Spirit and St. Frances of Rome Church. She also operates the Emily Fields Voice Studio.
