Teacher Rafael Lopez led St. Nicholas Academy students in a musical performance during the Give for Good Louisville mid-day rally at Fourth Street Live! Sept. 13. St. Nicholas was one of about 500 non-profits that participated in the 24-hour day of local giving hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville. The south-end Catholic school raised close to $29,000 and was ranked number one by www.giveforgoodlouisville.org for securing the most unique donations. Donations to the regional school came from 502 individual donors. The school also won an additional $5,500 in prize money during the giving competition. Several other Catholic schools participated in Give for Good Louisville, as did the Catholic Education Foundation and Catholic Charities of Louisville. Close to 17,000 individuals donated almost $6 million dollars.
