Father Raymond Hofmann dies at the age of 84

Father Raymond L. Hofmann, a member of the Congregation of the Resurrection died May 9. He was 84 years old and in his 63rd year of religious life.

Father Hofmann was a Louisville native and grew up at Holy Trinity Church. He was ordained a priest in 1956 in Ontario, Canada, where he also served in parish ministry.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Father Hofmann served as pastor of St. Cecilia Church from 1969 to 1973 and 1986 to 1993. He also served there from 1975 to 1977. He was pastor of Resurrection Church from 1974 to 1975 and from 1993 to 1999. He was pastor of Guardian Angels Church from 1999 to 2002.

During retirement, Father Hofmann ministered part-time at St. Martin of Tours and St. Frances of Rome churches, the Cathedral of the Assumption and St. Joseph Children’s Home.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 13 at St. Martin of Tours. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
