Dominican Sister of Peace Lois Pineau, 85, dies

Dominican Sister of Peace Lois Pineau, 85, died Nov. 29 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky.

Sister Pineau, a native of Watertown, Mass., served in education in New York, Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, West Virginia and Kentucky. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Sts. Simon and Jude School.

Sister Pineau also served as prioress of St. Catharine Motherhouse. She also ministered in elder care, home care, women’s care and with the homeless. In May 1999, she moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse and worked as the property manager of the motherhouse. In 2006, she moved into the Sansbury Care Center where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

Survivors include two sisters Rita Pineau and Lorraine Dienst as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel followed by burial at the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery. Visitation will be Dec. 6 beginning at 3 p.m. at the chapel.
