Dominican Sister Mary Carla Golom, 87, dies

Dominican Sister of Peace Mary Carla Golom died Oct. 27 at Sansbury Care Center in Springfield, Ky. She was 87 and had been a Dominican for 68 years.

Throughout her ministry, she served as an educator and a member of her community’s leadership team. She taught at schools in Massachusetts, West Virginia, Ohio, and Illinois.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she was an instructor at St. Catharine College in Springfield, Ky. She later served as part of the Midwest regional team for her community.

In 2011, Sister Golom moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse in Springfield, Ky. She later moved to Sansbury Care Center in 2018 where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

Sister Golom is survived by one brother, John Golom, and nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Oct. 31 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will follow in the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
