Dominican Sister Mary Agnes Sullivan, dies

Dominican Sister of Peace Mary Agnes Sullivan, 94, died June 21 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She was a Dominican Sister of Peace for 72 years.

Sister Sullivan, a native of Atlanta, Ga., served in education, pastoral ministry and in couseling in Tennessee, Illinois, New York, Nebraska, Gerogia, Florida and Kentucky.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Holy Rosary Academy from 1960 to 1963 and St. Catharine College from 1971 to 1972. She ministered at Our Lady of Consolation Church from 1979 to 1980 and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church from 1983 to 1987.

In 1990, Sister Sullivan moved to St. Catharine Motherhouse where she provided community service. In 2015, she entered Sansbury Care Center where she began a ministry of prayer and presence.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mercedes Sullivan and Dottie Sullivan, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be July 4 at 3 p.m. at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be July 5 at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
