INFANT BURIAL PRAYER SERVICE — Monthly
A prayer service to remember and pray for infants and children is held on the last Wednesday of each month at Calvary Cemetery in the “Holy Innocents” section at 1:30 p.m.
Families, friends and others who have lost a child are invited to attend. The names of all children buried during the month will be reverently mentioned during the service. Additional names may be mentioned at the request of families.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS — Lent
The Way of the Cross for young Christians is celebrated on Fridays during Lent at each of the four archdiocesan cemeteries in Louisville. Students from various Catholic schools attend and host each service at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
MOTHER’S DAY — May 10, 2020
Each Mother’s Day, Catholic Cemeteries hands out complementary roses for visitors to place on the graves of their mothers, sisters and daughters to celebrate motherhood and remember those who have passed before us.
MEMORIAL DAY — MAY 25, 2020
In honor of the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, we offer complimentary American flags at the front gate while quantities last. American flags are permitted from the Friday afternoon before the holiday through the Sunday after.
ALL SOUL’S DAY — Nov. 2, 2020
On Nov. 2 of each year (unless this date falls on a Sunday) the Catholic Church commemorates the faithful departed and baptized Christians believed to be in purgatory. The Archbishop of Louisville usually presides at this Mass at 11 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery each year.
TREE OF REMEMBRANCE — Dec. 4, 2020
The “Lighting of the Tree of Remembrance” prayer service takes place at Calvary Cemetery each year one week after Thanksgiving on a Friday.
Everyone is invited to remember, honor and celebrate the life of a loved one by placing an ornament in their memory on the Tree of Remembrance. Everyone who mourns the loss of a family member or friend, regardless of when or where the person was buried, is welcome.
