Catholics invited to answer questions about family life

All Catholics are invited to respond to an online questionnaire related to family life in preparation for the XIV Ordinary General Synod of Bishops set for October. The answers will help guide Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz and other prelates taking part in the meeting.

Following the 2014 Synod of Bishops on the family, which looked at the topic “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization,” Pope Francis released a summary called the Lineamenta, or preparatory document. It includes a series of questions aimed at determining how the document has been received and to examine the work started by the October 2014 Synod.

The results of this questionnaire, along with the Lineamenta, will serve as the starting point for the Instrumentum Laboris, the working document for the October 2015 XIV Ordinary General Synod. The fall meeting will examine “The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and the Contemporary World.”

The questionnaire is available at www.archlou.org/Synod2015. Respondents are encouraged to review the questions and answer only those that seem most important. A Spanish version is also available. Responses are due by March 7.
