Catholic high school students receive ‘Unsung hero’ awards

Nine seniors from Catholic high schools, were awarded the “Unsung Hero Award” by The Rotary Club of Louisville for their service to their schools, churches, civic organizations and community.

The awards were presented March 24 during the Rotary Club’s luncheon at the Galt House Hotel. Each year the club recognizes one outstanding civic-minded high school senior from every parochial, private and public school in Jefferson County.

“The award recipients are students whose high school experience has reflected dedication to service above self, working behind the scenes and seldom, if ever, stepping into the limelight,” said a news release from the club.

The honorees are: Lilly Caudill of Assumption High School; Logan Clark of DeSales High School; Peter Bifone of Holy Angels Academy; Brooke Shields of Holy Cross High School; Charlotte Schepers of Mercy Academy; Emma Uhls of Presentation Academy; Emily Schulman of Sacred Heart Academy; Oliver Hirn of St. Xavier High School; and Jackson Kitchin of Trinity High School.

“Unsung Hero” recipients receive $250, a certificate and $500 in gift certificates. In addition, all “Unsung Hero” recipients who are pursuing a post-secondary education in Metro Louisville are eligible to apply for Rotary scholarships.
