Cathedral’s lunch program receives award and donation from Humana

The Cathedral of the Assumption’s daily lunch program — which serves people in need every day of the year — received an award and donation from Humana last week.

Humana staff visited the Cathedral Jan. 23 to present the Humana Spirit of Philanthropy award and a donation of $25,000.

The lunch program serves soup, a sandwich, a salad and dessert to about 130 people each day in the Sandefur Dining Hall located at the rear of the Cathedral’s undercroft. The meals are prepared by chef Steve Lee with the help of about 370 volunteers who serve each month.
