Assumption students win
Gilda’s Club essay contest

Mattie Whitworth, a student at Assumption High School, placed second in Gilda’s Club’s ninth annual Write Stuff essay contest. Madeline Everette placed third.

The contest gives middle and high school students the opportunity to share their experience with cancer through essays, poetry, video or art, according to a press release from Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana.

The nonprofit supports individuals living with cancer. The contest was sponsored by Kosair Charities and the WHAS Crusade for Children. Winners received scholarship money and a trophy.
