Archbishop’s new crozier

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz held his new crozier — the pastoral staff — as he greeted parishioners of St. Rose Church in Springfield, Ky., Saturday, Feb. 25. The archbishop, who was there to rededicate the renovated sanctuary, described to his young listener, above, the significance of the crozier, a symbol of the bishop's role as the Good Shepherd. The crozier was a gift from family and a friend, he said.
