The incoming class of first-year students at Spalding University spent a portion of their first few days on campus taking part in a college move-in service project.
About 75 students participating in the university’s three-day freshman orientation program — called Engaged — packed lunches and hygiene kits for clients of Wellspring Aug. 20 in Spalding’s Morrison Hall dormitory. The hygiene kits included items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and feminine hygiene products.
Wellspring, a non-profit organization that promotes mental health recovery for adults, is located a block away from Spalding’s campus.
Students also planted flowers and other plants in several flower beds behind Morrison Hall.
