40 Days for Life campaign resumes with Lenten prayer vigil and fasting

40 Days for Life, an international campaign of praying and fasting for an end to abortion, will be observed again beginning on Feb. 14, Ash Wednesday. Groups and individuals are invited to join in prayer and fasting throughout Lent.

The 40-day prayer vigil is carried out in the public right-of-way outside the EMW Women’s Surgical Center in downtown Louisville. Participants take shifts 24 hours a day throughout the campaign. Groups are encouraged to sign up for a shift at www.40daysforlife.com/louisville.

The campaign is held twice a year — during Lent and in the fall. Participants “are asked to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times,” according to a press release from organizer Laura Grijalba.
