Sister Mary Kevin Egan dies at 89

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Mary Kevin Egan, 89, a native of Louisville, died Sept. 4 at Carrico Hall, Nazareth, Ky. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 63 years.

Sister Egan served in Kentucky, Maryland and Massachusetts during her religious life. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served in the Nazareth Post Office as assistant and later as postmaster from 1952 to 1966. Sister Egan served in provincial administration at Nazareth from 1969 to 1975. In Louisville, she served in health care at the Nazareth Home business office from 1975-77 and in the Provincial Office from 1980 to 1986. During the past two years Sister Egan has served in the Apostolate of Prayer at the Motherhouse.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Sept. 7 at St. Vincent Church. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
