Sister of Charity Nazareth Maureen Taaffe dies

RecordLogo-FSister of Charity of Nazareth Maureen Taaffe (formerly Sister Mary Karen Taaffe) died Aug. 22 at Nazareth Home. She was 81 and was in her 60th year of religious life.
Sister Taaffe, a native of Massachusetts, served as an elementary school educator for 30 years in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Ohio.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Taaffe served as a fifth-grade teacher at St. Joseph School in Bardstown, Ky., from 1956-1959. In her later years, Sister Taaffe served in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Sister Taaffe is survived by one brother, Kevin Taaffe of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; two sisters, Karen Taaffe Robinson of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Joan Taaffe of Jacksonville, Fla.; and members of her religious community.

Visitation will take place Aug. 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home. Visitation will also be held after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent. Burial will be in Nazareth Cemetery.
