The annual luncheon, hosted by the CEF, will be held Sept. 28 at the Galt House

saluteluncheonlogo-wThe Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) will host the ninth annual Salute to THE GAME Luncheon on Sept. 28 at noon at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.

The luncheon takes place in advance of the annual football game between St. Xavier and Trinity high schools, which is schedule for Sept. 30 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at 8 p.m.

Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the CEF and its work to support Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Howard Schnellenberger, a 1951 graduate of Flaget High School and former collegiate and National Football League coach, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.

“We are so thankful to both the St. Xavier and Trinity communities for allowing the Catholic Education Foundation to further its mission through the Salute luncheon,” Richard A. Lechleiter, CEF president said in a news release.

Last year’s luncheon netted a record $260,000. In the eight years of its existence, the Salute luncheon has raised more than $1 million in support of Catholic education.

Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at various levels of support — from $100 to $20,000. For more information about the event or to learn more about the CEF, visit ceflou.org or call 585-2747.
