World Day of Prayer services are planned at churches March 1 and 2

Twenty-six churches of various denominations in the Louisville area will be hosting ecumenical World Day of Prayer services to celebrate the observance on March 1 and 2.

The year’s theme, written by women in France, is “I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” according to a news release from Cindy Scheldorf.

Catholic churches that plan to host services are the following:

March 1 — St. Francis of Assisi, 1960 Bardstown Road,  at 10 a.m.; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 5505 Newcut Road, at 10:30 a.m.; St. Edward Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, at 10:30 a.m., and St. Patrick Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Road, at 10:30 a.m.

On March 2 — St. Augustine Church, 1310 W. Broadway, will hold a service at 11 a.m.
