Workshop on revised matrimony rite set

Record Staff Report
A national workshop on the newly revised Order for Celebrating Matrimony will be offered here in the Archdiocese of Louisville twice next month.

The new marriage rite, whose English translation has been approved by the Holy See, may be used beginning Sept. 8 and will become mandatory on Dec. 30.

The day-long workshop will be presented by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Divine Worship and the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. The workshop will be offered first on May 13 and will be repeated on May 14. Both presentations will be held at the Flaget Center, 1935 Lewiston Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The workshop — designed for clergy, liturgical ministers and pastoral staff — will include a time for questions, information about what’s new and what remains the same, the theology of marriage, elements of the rite, music for wedding liturgies and other topics.

The ritual books for the revised rite are expected to be available in August.

The cost of the workshop is $55 and the fee includes lunch. To register, visit www.fdlc.org/marriage-rite-workshops. For more information, call the Office of Worship at 636-0296, ext. 1260, or send an email to worship@archlou.org.

The archdiocesan Office of Worship will schedule additional workshops for those unable to attend one of the May presentations.
