The 19th annual ecumenical “Way of the Cross: A Walk for Justice” will be held on Good Friday, April 3, in downtown Louisville.
The procession and Stations of the Cross will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Romano Mazzoli Federal Building, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Place, and conclude at 11:30 a.m. at Founders Square Park at Fifth Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard.
According to a press release, participants in the 1.5 mile walk will stop at 14 locations downtown to reflect on economic inequality, justice in health care, care for the earth, the death penalty, the plight of immigrants and migrant workers, poverty, homelessness and racism.
The event is “an opportunity to remember and pray for those caught in situations of oppression or suffering today,” the release said.
Several Catholic and Protestant churches and organizations that advocate for social justice and equality sponsor the annual prayer service.
