Ursuline Sister Rosanne Spalding, an educator and pastoral minister, dies

Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph Rosanne Spalding died May 16 at Mount Saint Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was 80 and in her 62nd year of religious life. 

Sister Spalding, a native of Springfield, Ky., served as an educator and in pastoral ministry in Kentucky and Nebraska.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Bernard School in Clementsville, Ky., from 1965 to 1967 and at St. Catherine School in New Haven, Ky., from 1972 to 1976.

She is survived by her siblings Martha Brinley of Lebanon, Ky.; Sara Riedel of Mt. Washington, Ky.; Lawrence and Marlin Spalding both of Springfield, Ky.; Alice Miller of Louisville; Edward Spalding of Bardstown, Ky.; and Ursuline Sister Laurita Spalding of Henderson, Ky; nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. May 23 at Mount Saint Joseph. Visitation will begin on May 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Precious Blood Church in Owensboro, Ky., with prayers at 6:30 p.m. Visitation at Mount Saint Joseph will be May 22 beginning at 4 p.m., followed by a vigil service at 6:30 p.m.
