Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Rose Theresa Johnson dies at 81

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Rose Theresa Johnson, 81, died Aug. 10 at Mount St. Joseph. She was a native of St. Lawrence, Ky., and had been a religious for 64 years.

Sister Johnson was an educator and in the Archdiocese of Louisville had taught at St. Leonard and St. Paul schools. She also taught in the Diocese of Owensboro and from 1999 to 2012 ministered as a pastoral associate at St. Joseph Catholic Center in Greenville, Ky.

Survivors include four sisters, Mary Howell of Owensboro, Ky., Alma Victoria Higdon of Clarkson, Ky., Mary Eveyleen Melton of Cedar Hill, Tenn., and Sister Rose Karen Johnson of Greenville; a brother,
Frank Johnson of Evansville, Ind.; nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 13 at Mount Saint Joseph. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of gifts to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, Ky.
