Ursuline Sister of Louisville Raymunda Orth, a music teacher, dies at 92

Ursuline Sister of Louisville Raymunda Orth died May 28 at Nazareth Home. She was 92 and had been an Ursuline Sister since 1947.

Sister Orth, a native of Evansville, Ind., served as an educator in Kentucky and Indiana. From 1949 to 1997, Sister Orth taught music at St. George, St. Ann, St. Raphael, St. Elizabeth, St. Leo, St. Peter Claver and St. Clement schools as well as at the Ursuline Special Education Center, the Ursuline-Pitt School and Pitt Academy in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Sister Orth also served her community as an assistant in the administrative offices of the Ursuline Sisters.

She is survived by her sister Suzanna Reker of Midland, Texas, sister-in-law Frieda Orth of New Harmony, Ind., nieces and nephews and members of her community and associates.

Visitation will be held June 3 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Ursuline Motherhouse library. A vigil will follow at 4:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 4 at 11 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. COVID-19 safety protocols, social distancing, will be followed. The Mass will be live-streamed to the Ursuline Sisters’ Facebook page.
