Ursuline Sister Mary Perpetua Nauert dies at 82

image001Ursuline Sister of Louisville Mary Perpetua Nauert, 82, died Aug. 28 at Mercy Sacred Heart in Louisville.

She was a native of Louisville and had been an Ursuline Sister since 1953. In Louisville, Sister Nauert taught in the 1950’s and 1960’s at Holy Spirit, St. Leo, St. Clement, St. Rita, Holy Trinity and St. Helen schools.

She also taught at St. Boniface School in Evansville, Ind., and at St. Aloysius School in Shepherdsville, Ky. From 1991 to 2003, Sister Nauert was a teacher’s aide at the Ursuline Child Development Center on the Ursuline Campus in Louisville.

Survivors include her brother, Joseph Nauert of Louisville; two sisters, Kitty Redmon and Theresa Ellsworth, both of Louisville; nieces, nephews and members of her Ursuline Community.

Visitation will be held at the Ursuline Motherhouse, 3115 Lexington Road, on Sept. 1 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sept. 2 at the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel. Burial was in St. Michael Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ursuline Sisters Office of Mission Advancement, 3105 Lexington Road, Louisville, Ky., 40206.
