Ursuline Sister of Louisville Delores Kemper, 83, dies

Delores KemperUrsuline Sister of Louisville Delores (Charles Marie) Kemper died on Sept. 30. She was 83 and had been an Ursuline since 1953.

Sister Kemper served as a teacher in Nebraska and Kentucky.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at Holy Spirit, Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeth, Our Mother of Sorrows, St. George, Pope John XXIII Consolidated and St. Joseph schools. She was an administrator and teacher at the Ursuline Montessori School.

She also taught for Jefferson County Public Schools at Kennedy Montessori School and was a supervising teacher for students of Louisville area universities and Xavier University. Sister Kemper volunteered at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Nazareth Home-Clifton, Kids Café Enrichment Program and St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

She is survived by her brother Raymond Charles Kemper Jr., and sisters, Mary Rita Kemper Horn and Gerry Kemper Gardner, sister-in-law Evelyn Kemper, nieces and nephews, and members of the Ursuline community.

Visitation will be at the Ursuline Motherhouse, 3115 Lexington Road, Oct. 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, 1155 Charles St.
